Club Competition Rules

All club competitions will be organised with a play-by-date and all participants MUST adhere to this.

All Competitors need to arrange and play their game(s) by the closing date of each round. There are 3-4 weeks between rounds (allowing for Bank Holidays).

Competition draw sheets are posted in the Clubhouse changing rooms for all to see.

The top named person is known as the Challenger. This person has to give the opponent 3 dates (2 weekdays and 1 weekend date) spread over a 2-3 week period. All 3 dates cannot be given in the same calendar week.

If the Challenger has not given dates within the first 2 weeks of the round, the Opponent can then offer dates for the remaining week of the said round.

If a date cannot be agreed the Competition Secretary will advise on a Walkover for one of the players. If a player is unavailable to play within a drawn round due to unforeseen circumstances, a Walkover will be given to the other player.

For Singles Competitions the Challenger must obtain a marker for the game, except for Finals.

Finals will be played on the set date as shown on the Fixture card (normally the 2nd or 3rd Saturday of September). If a player/team is in more than 2 finals, arrangements may be made to play the Friday evening before Finals Day.

All rounds and finals to be played in club shirts and navy trousers/shorts.

Please do not enter any competitions if you know you will not be available to play on Finals Day or for a set round of a competition

No extensions can be granted just because a competitor is going on holiday

Substitutions: In all competitions where partners are drawn, a substitute will be permitted at the discretion of the Committee. In all competitions where substitutes are permitted, it will be for one match only, except in very exceptional circumstances and at the discretion of the Committee. In this instance, the 'Committee' will comprise the Competition Secretary and any two members of the Club Committee, whose decision shall be binding and final.
